Equipment and Wealth

Equipment and Wealth

All gear for starting characters is going to be made of primitive materials, notably bone, obsidian, stone and wood. Bone weapons deal -1 damage, and have the fragile property. Bone armor is at -1 AC and has the fragile quality. Only weapons may be made from stone. Stone weapons deal normal damage, but have the fragile quality. Obsidian may only be used to make slashing or piercing weapons. Obsidian weapons deal normal damage, and have the fragile quality, but are considered keen weapons. Additionally only primitive weapons and armors are available. If you are not sure if an item is available, check with the DM, but use your judgment. I have faith in you. Well, most of you. Ok, some of you, but at least try. You know what? I'll put equipment lists in the wiki. wink

For ease of referance, here is a description of the fragile quality:

Fragile: Weapons and armor with the fragile quality cannot take the beating that sturdier weapons can. A fragile weapon gains the broken condition if the wielder rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll with the weapon. If a fragile weapon is already broken, the roll of a natural 1 destroys it instead. Masterwork and magical fragile weapons and armor lack these flaws unless otherwise noted in the item description or the special material description.

Since money is a foreign concept at this point, all items have a trade value or tv, describing how much value the object has. For simplicity, 1tv = 1gp. However, keep in mind that no coins exist in Seoni society, and this is just a way to determine how many beaver pelts an obsidian tipped spear is worth. All characters start with 150 tv of equipment and trade goods. If a character has an appropriate craft skill for making an item they want, they may "purchase" that item at half cost. Any tv not "spent" are lost. Also, each character has a small hut, or a room in a larger family hut, where they may store any possessions they don't want to carry with them. Keep in mind, you should have baskets, sacks, clay pots or the like to store trade goods in. Don't forget these when purchasing starting possessions.
